Mecca Masjid
Mecca Masjid is one of the old mosques in Hyderabad that is located in Charminar Road. The mosque was initially commissioned in 1614. It was constructed by Muhammad Quli Qutub Shah. The whole construction of the mosque was completed in the year 1694. The mosque has a large seating capacity of 10,000 worshippers.
The Mecca Masjid Mosque was built during the reign of the fifth Qutb Shahi Sultan of Hyderabad. He laid down the first stone of the structure himself in 1614. It took 8,000 workers who worked for 77 years to complete this building. Mecca Masjid was completed by the hands of Aurangzeb. Now, Mecca Mosque is one of the top visited holy places in India.
The architecture of Mecca Masjid has a grand gateway. It leads up to the entrance, where there is a water fountain. A pond of water is nearby. The prayer hall is 75 feet high and 180 feet long, and it has a capacity to hold 10,000 people. 15 arches are there to decorate the roof of this hall.
These arches are a support system for the 3 walls of the mosque. The columns are octagonal, rise higher, and end in the shape of a dome. Inside the dome, there are 5 pathways to the tombs of the Asaf Jahi dynasty.
In addition to being a pilgrimage site, the mosque houses the tombs of Nizams and Asaf Jahan rulers. A hair of Prophet Muhammad has been safely secured in the buildings of the Makkah Masjid which makes this very important to visit.
Mecca Masjid timings are from 4 AM in morning to 9:30 PM daily. There is no entry fee for Mecca Masjid.

- First Jummah Sala: 12:30 PM
- Second Jummah Khutbah: 1:00 PM
- Second Jummah Salat: 1:30 PM
Mecca Masjid can be reached easily through the Charminar Bus Stand, and buses are available regularly at frequent intervals. From the bus stand, you can hire a taxi or an auto-rickshaw to reach Mecca Masjid.
